I am assuming Ajax will be the favourite for the Ontario Cup, and most likely for the league title as well.

In the west division, Mississauga and Erin Mills A will be contending for the division title. I give the edge to Mississauga as Erin Mills is just not the powerhouse they used to be.

In the east division, it will be interesting to see who comes out in second as OSU has done very well so far and Dixie is having another good year.

Should be interesting to see how this seasons wraps up.

Over the weekend I heard that Dixie picked up three of Falcons starters. Does it make them favorite team to win all and take Falcons out of the race. That is very attractive team for Mississauga area players to run away from their native clubs. Some of NM players couple years ago and now Falcons. They accused, successfully, others for poaching. Not knowing details but that looks like they have the best program in that area. How big impact new players have in the way Dixie team plays? Now the east become even stronger and Ottawa and Ajax have a bit harder task to win. The best West teams wouldn't do well at east side. The team who got a win vs top three east teams is much weaker now and Dixie won them easily opposing to Falcons game vs Ajax when they had full force. EM last to two top east teams and I hope they will have hard time to win the surprise team of Ottawa. For us who don't live in that area this forum was a great source of information and I wonder where are Henryfun, Polska and others.

So to reflect to the post above I don't think that the prediction will stand now. Things change drastically for the west.
EM will win easily the west side and Dixie has the best chances at the east side. East side is not simple to predict any more. Who ever win east is going to win all. Oc is about winner Ajax vs Dixie.

On the east side - we have 3 teams fighting for top spot - Ottawa, Dixie, Ajax. Ajax lost some points and that put them in quite difficult situation.Ottawa currently is on the top with 2 points over Ajax and 6 points over Dixie- with Dixie having 2 games on hand. I am finding this year very interesting- much more than last year.
As far as Dixe- this was allways strong program getting better every year.

If this is true then the east will indeed get much more interesting and the west could possibly have a change in standings as well. It is unfortunate when politics can destroy a team, if this is the case, for whatever reason.

I believe Ajax will still win the east, but Dixie will put on a lot of pressure. The surprise of the year is definitely Ottawa and it is unfortunate for them that they were put in the tougher east division.
In the west, EM will most certainly win now, but does anyone think Mississauga could possibly be caught? Guelph and Windsor have the best chances to catch Mississauga with Guelph playing Mississauga tomorrow night. Guelph played Mississauga tight in their first meeting with that match ending with a 2-2 draw.

Polska you are correct as things are getting very interesting this year, but for some reason there is not nearly as much disscussion on this forum as last year.

I think less discussion this year is beacouse people are not focus anymore on one, two games. As league is very important, many players are focusing on opportunities for scholarship and that is the most important issue.
Not so much focus on today- more focus on tomorrow.

I also would like to point - Ottawa- you are right - great improvement - this is very strong team - very difficult games against them.

How good are Falcons now. Can they stay in the league? Polska your team played them how good or bad they are now. That give the league sense of not being regular. Some teams played them in a very different shape then others.

M.Falcons in my opinnion are very good team. Many talented players including some recent additions. They have new coach and that is an adjustment. But I think they are very capable.

Report from Guelph vs. Missassauga last night, ended with Guelph winning 5-4.

It started off with Mississauga dominating the first 15 minutes of the game, scoring 4, yes 4 goals in about 15 minutes. After the 4th goal, Guelph switched keepers and brought on quite a few players from there bench which gave them a bit of a spark. Guelph got one goal back on a penalty before half which was the correct call.

At the start of the second half it was all Guelph. They scored about 10 minutes into the second on a nice left footed volley about 18 yards out. Guelph then scored two more times in the next 15 minutes to tie the game up at 4-4. The Falcons then played with a bit more life and the game got quite heated. A player from each side was cautioned and then 5 minutes later a Mississauga player was given a direct red for punching or kicking a player. The last 10 minutes or so went scoreless, but there was about 4 minutes of stoppage time which saw both teams get chances. The Guelph keeper who came in made 3 great saves, one on a diving header and the other from a free kick.
Then with the Falcons having a corner, they pushed a lot of players up looking for the W. After a scramble in the box, a guelph player sent there striker who was one on one with the lone falcon defender. The Royals forward held off the defender and caught the keeper off his line to complete the 4-0 comeback and take the game 5-4.

Overall a very exciting game of football.

This year there will be no playoff games with the top 2 teams from each division advancing, but there will be a final game which will decide who will win the OYSL title. This final game will be played between the East division winner and the West division winner.

A shocking result out of Guelph as Dixie has been eliminated from the Ontario Cup. This came after Guelph defeated Dixie 4-3 on penalties after 90 minutes ended with the teams all square at 1-1.

The first half was all Dixie, as Guelph was struggling to put together passes and Dixie was playing up tempo and creating quite a few chances. A couple good saves from the Guelph keeper kept his team in it, while the Dixie goalie only had a couple saves to make in the first half. Dixie's goal came on a counter attack when a player was sent in on a partial breakaway and calmly finished to the bottom right corner with the goalie having no chance.

The second half started with Guelph down 1-0, and they played with more heart and showed more determination. The second half was very competitive with both teams getting chances but no one being able to finish. With about 5 minutes left to play, a Guelph striker drew a free kick about 5 yards from the bi-line. The free kick was sent in low and hard to the near post, and after the Dixie keeper was unable to control the rebound. Guelph took advantage as a sliding tap in brought the game to 1-1. The last few minutes of the game were very intense as Dixie provided some pressure, but it seemed penalty kicks were inevitable.

The first two Guelph players provided 2 goals on their first two penalties, while Dixie was unfortunate as they hit the post on their first two attempts. The third Guelph shooter put away his penalty, and so did the third Dixie shooter. With Guelph up 3-1, the 4th Guelph shooter had a chance to finish the game. He struck the ball well, but hit the left post. Dixie scored their next kick, providing Guelph with one more chance to win the game. The 5th Guelph shooter, who looked 25, calmly put away his penalty and celebrated with style. Overall the match was exciting and very intense. Congratulations to Guelph.
