Interesting! Am I misreading these two Aussie documents?

Do they both talk about Elite Player Development (Talented Player Pathway) being through State Institutions (Provincial Player Development Programmes?) and National Training Centres??

Bill you are reading it correctly.

The big difference is that in Australia they actually did what they proposed and implemented the plans. Their results since that time speak for themselves.

In Canada, all we will ever do at the CSA with the current crop of incompetents is to talk and talk and talk. They will continue to put out new plans and directions but once again in the true spirit of the CSA nothing will ever change.

Its all talk with no action ever.

Well except for the annual fee increase....

The other thing they have is Futsal being used.
Here it's like your speaking another language to many "rep" coaches when you mention Futsal as a great development tool.

We don't have Money or soccer knowledge to get anywhere.
If we want to succeed anytime soon, this is the path to follow:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/s ... index.html

In May 1999, FA vice president Beckenbauer, first-team manager Ribbeck, Bayer Leverkusen general manager Reiner Calmund and FA Director of Youth Development Dietrich Weise presented a new concept for producing young German footballers. All across the country, 121 national talent centers would be built to help 10- to 17-year-olds with technical practice. Each center would employ two full-time coaches at a cost of $15.6 million over five years. The second key point was a new requirement for all 36 professional clubs in Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 to build youth academies.

Whereas youth coaches would traditionally stress stamina and physical endurance, the new crop of highly qualified coaches is more interested in developing technical ability.

"We start with the U-9s. They play four-a-side, on small pitches, to encourage individual skills," Albeck said. "We then add players every year, only the U-13s are playing with full teams."

Watching the young German national team dismantle England and then Argentina is proof that this development system is the way it should be done. This should be the blueprint for CSA overhaul of the existing system. Great article.

121 schools, 2 coaches each, $ 62,000 per coach
Adds up to $ 15,000,000.
That is not big money. Lots of Canadians have that kind of scratch.
Hell, it is only 50% of a current lottery win.

If anybody had the cojones and the vision this would be doable. Problem would be that we would end up with a bunch of 17 years olds with nowhere to go and no role models to aspire to.
