SRSL Elite action Tues.night
St. Cath Jets 2
Saltfleet 1
A big win for the Jets, both physically and emotionally. Still battling injuries, one starter most likely done for the season with a broken collarbone that occured on Sat at the League Cup game. Another starter is game to game, while the vacation bug is still going around. However, the injuries to the other girls are slowly, if not all dissappered. The Jets used 3 call-ups who helped tremendously.
It was a very exciting game in St. Cath., with both teams battling the heat and each other. There were scoring chances for both teams throughout the game, with the slight advantage going to the Jets. A biased opionion, but possession was
slightly in favour of the Jets also, so was the work ethic. Saltfleet keeps coming at you and never give up. They too, have been battling injuries, etc. and had 3 call-ups themselves. They fought hard.
Saltfleet went up 1 - 0 about 6 minutes in the 1st, a result of a free kick that basically went through 3 Jets defence, got picked up by a Saltfleet forward who buried it. The Jets tied it up midway through the 1st on a beautiful headball after after a fantastic cross from the corner. St. Cath took the lead midway through the 2nd with the striker picking up a nice pass from the midfield and outrunning the D for a well-placed shot in the net.
The Jets now have some time off which will be good for them. Hopefully, it's not TOO much time
