Canadian Shield U17 International

Postby tryingtomakesomesense on Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:43 pm

I know I'm late posting this...but Staurday at 3:00pm at Sherwood B in Burlington is the finals between Ajax and the Mexican Team. Should be a really great match. They played to a 3-2 Ajax win in the round robin to set up the rivalry for the final. Come out and watch. It's free and should be some really entertaining soccer.

I understand this is the 2nd year for this tournament that was the 1 year U16 Burlington tournament for U16 girls and boys and now is now a U17 tournament specific so it it will be its last year probably. This this local newspaper make a mistake or is there a team from Aurora in there. the schedule shows Italy, Buffalo, Lynx, Ajax, Burlington and Mexico but there is some cancelled games. Very confusing. Is it Aurora vs Mexico or Aurora vs Ajax or Mexico vs Ajax. And what happenned to the favoured Lynx academy team?

Gondor - I do not know if you watched Lynxu17- to me this is a very average team. Ajax Gunners are by far superior team. In the article the autor who has now knowledge about youth soccer is talking about Aurora, which is low level team.

A mistake in the paper's article stated that it was Aurora and Mexico in the final, despite the headline (or opening sentence) actually listing it correct as Ajax. I was fortunate to watch Mexico play five times and Ajax three times during the tournament. Both were exceptional teams, but Ajax was a deserving champion scoring late off a corner. No wonder they won Nationals last year, as they're fast, skilled, strong, hard working, deep in talent, and very sound tactically. It was a treat watching them play. Congrats to the players and coaching staff.
